RULES OF THE ROME SAILING CLUB, INC.
Approved by membership on 12/12/2009
The following rules have been adopted by the Rome Sailing Club in order for each member to have an understanding of the responsibilities, duties, and conduct expected of him while on the Club premises or using the Club facilities. A member who violates any rule may be subject to disciplinary action as provided in he Club Bylaws.
Grounds and House Rules
1.0 The club grounds shall be used as designated in the Grounds Use Plan. Particular attention should be paid to the parking of automobiles and trailers. At no time shall the boat ramp, ramp access area, boat access area, or adjoining properties be blocked with an unattended automobile, trailer, or other vehicle.
2.0 Storage of boats, trailers, board boats, etc. will be administered by the Dock Master and/or Grounds Committee.
3.0 Doors to the clubhouse and work shed shall be locked after days/nights/weekend use.
4.0 All members shall see that all lights / fans / tv etc. are turned off before leaving. Instructions are posted in the clubhouse.
5.0 Members or guests shall not spend the night in the clubhouse.
6.0 No power boating or skiing shall be permitted from the club premises. Club members and guests may tie up or raft up the club premises with power boats. Power boats cannot remain at the T- Dock or ramp unattended when the owner is not on the premises.
7.0 The club's aluminum skiff is designated for use during club regattas and other club sponsored activities. At other times the skiff may be used by club members provided the member using the skiff takes full responsibility for loss of or damage to the skiff. The skiff shall be returned to the club premises daily and securely locked when not in use. The user must supply and use proper safety equipment. This club assumes no responsibility for injury or accident.
8.0 The club assumes NO responsibility for the security of boats, equipment, gear, or other personal property on the club premises. The club assumes NO liability for accidents or injury to members or guests. Club members must sign a release form before use of club property. Forms may be obtained from the Treasurer.
9.0 As a condition of membership and as a condition to acceptance of such membership, each member expressly waives and releases the Rome Sailing Club from any and all claims for damages to property of the member caused by the Rome Sail Club or its agents, while such property is in the care, custody, or control of the Rome Sailing Club.
10.0 RSC Pontoon Boat
The RSC pontoon boat has two purposes:
10.1 Race committee boat for club sponsored races.
10.2 Emergency rescues of sailors/boaters in distress.
The following rules govern the use of the pontoon boat:
Before leaving the dock, the member that has the approval of the board to use the boat has the responsibility to check all safety equipment. Insuring these items are on board and in working condition.
a. Life Vests for all on board.
b. Throw cushions
c. Fire extinguisher
d. Horn
e. Navigation Lights
Any citation issued due to safety equipment and or operation is the responsibility of the operator.
10.3 The key is kept in the commodore's office in a place known to members of the board
10.4 Use of the boat requires approval of a board member.
10.5 The boat's skipper should have passed the Alabama safe boating course
(This is denoted by a 'V' on the Alabama driver's license or by the possession of a certificate of successful completion of the Alabama Safe Boating course.)
10.6 Under NO condition is ANY alcoholic beverage, opened or closed, EVER permitted aboard the pontoon boat.
10.7 The boat's skipper must be sober.
10.8 Life vests are to be maintained aboard in the storage locker.
10.9 The boat's condition while moored is regularly assessed by the Dock Master, who should be informed of any problems encountered with its use.
11.0 The Club assumes no responsibility for the security of boats, equipment, gear or other personal property left on the club premises. The club assumes no liability for accidents or injury to members or guests. Club members must sign a release form before use of club property. Forms may be obtained from the Treasurer.

12.0 No personal belongings are to be left on the club premises other than sailboats, boat trailers, and sailing-related gear without prior approval of the Grounds Committee and/or Dock Master. These items shall be placed in the allocated area for storage and be marked with the owners name.
Personal belongings includes, but is not limited to personal clothes, towels, food, supplies, equipment, tools stored in the shed or house.
13.0 Refrigerator in storage shed should be kept turned off at all times with the exception of club events.
14.0 Because of the clubs limited facilities, members shall keep the number of guests to a minimum on specific club activity days, Sundays, and holidays.
15.0 A member shall be responsible for the conduct of their guests on club premises and shall assure that their guests abide by club rules and policies.
15.1 Parents or guardians shall be responsible for the activities of their children on the club premises and assure that unruly, unsafe, or irresponsible conduct is corrected. No children under the age of 16 shall be allowed the use of club facilities without direct supervision.
15.2 No children under the age of 18 shall be allowed or permitted to remain on the premises after 10 PM and before 5 AM without Direct parental supervision.
16.0 Members shall not loan their key or give combination to the club premises to any non-member.
17.0 Guests are permitted on the club premises only when accompanied by a club member.
18.0 Any pets brought to the club premises shall be under control of the owner, not left unattended and shall in no way cause a disturbance to other club members.
18.1 No pets allowed in the club house or any area where food preparation takes place.
18.2 Owner is responsible for cleaning up after their own pet.
18.3 No pets are allowed at club social functions when food is served.
18.4 Owner is responsible for bring pets feeding and water receptacles.
19.0 All members shall see that their litter is removed from the club premises. It is the responsibility of each and every member to make sure the kitchen is kept in a clean, safe, and sanitary condition. (dishes are to be kept washed, counter tops clean and free of food products)
Daily removal of all household trash and debris such as garbage cans, ashtrays, beer cans, are to be placed in the outside receptacles.
20.0 No open fires shall be made for any purpose without the permission of the Grounds Committee. Picnic grills and fire pit area which completely contain the fire may be used on the club premises only if that member takes full responsibility for extinguishing the fire and for any damage that may be done as a result of its use. Picnic and fire pit areas shall remain neat and clean. Fire logs are to kept in designated area. Chairs and/or furniture shall be stored in their designated storage area when not in use.

21.0 Fishing shall be permitted from the club premises only to the extent that it does not interfere with swimming, launching, and retrieving of boats, beaching of boats or any other club-organized activity.
22.0 Members shall not conduct any unruly, loud. rowdy or otherwise disturbing parties on the club premises.
23.0 Members shall not bring firearms or explosives onto the club premises. Unless they are to be used in an approved club activity.
24.0 Members shall not violate any local, county, state or federal laws while on the club premises.
25.0 Sailboats are not to be left unattended at the launching or T-dock when the owner is not on the club premises.
26.0 No smoking inside the club house.
